Step into a tradition as old as civilization itself, Khayamiya Embroidery, a sacred form of Egyptian applique embroidery believed to be known by every Prophet throughout history. Unlike typical embroidery, this intricate craft uses hand-stitched cotton fabric pieces, requiring patience, attention to detail, and steady hands. While it might challenge your fingers at first, it brings a rare sense of calm.

This Khayamiya Embroidery Workshop Cairo takes place in El-Kheyameya Bazaar, also known as the Tentmakers Bazaar Cairo—a 650-year-old souq nestled in the heart of Islamic Cairo. Once famed for producing the Kiswa, the ceremonial cover for the Kaaba in Mecca, this market offers a living glimpse into centuries of Cairo’s artisanal legacy. Join your local guide or tour guide for a one-of-a-kind Cairo craft tour tentmakers experience in the legendary Street of the Tentmakers Cairo.
